Welcome to Year 1!

 

We look forward to working with you this year to support your child in their learning and growth.

Key Information

P.E. Days: Wednesday and Thursday 

Reading Books: New books (Little Wandle) will be sent home on Wednesday and must be returned on Monday (Reading Folders must come into school daily). Please try to read with your child every day and sign their reading diary at least twice a week. Reading for pleasure books (books that adults should read and share with their child) can be changed every Friday.

Homework: Will be given out on Friday and must be returned by Wednesday.

Uniform: The school uniform for non-PE days consists of a white shirt/polo; grey dress/skirt/trousers/shorts; blue jumper/cardigan and black shoes. On PE days, children should come dressed in their PE uniform which consists of a white t-shirt; a plain dark coloured top e.g. school jumper; plain dark coloured joggers/leggings/shorts and trainers/plimsolls. All uniform should be labelled with your child's name so that we can support them to find lost items. 

Rewards:

  • Attendance: Golden time will be earned if the class achieve the highest attendance across KS1 during any given week.
  • Individual: Children will receive dojo points for following the school rules; reading at home and effort with homework. The children will receive badges at the 100, 200 and 300 milestones. Children will also be rewarded for good attendance, punctuality and wearing the correct uniform through a raffle system. One child from KS1 will be chosen each week at random and will win a prize during Friday celebration assembly. One child will be chosen every week to receive a star pupil certificate for demonstrating the school values. This will also be presented to them at the Friday celebration assembly.
  • Class: Each class will also work together to earn marbles for following the school rules. If they collectively earn 40 marbles in a half term, they will receive golden time.  

Water Bottles: Please ensure your child brings a named water bottle to school every day. Children are able to re-fill these through out the day.
